Climate description
Warm tropical climate; two rainy seasons, the heaviest from May to August, the lightest from November to December; the southwest is the driest region. Between 1962 and 1990 the island lost a significant portion of its woodlands because of deforestation and the coral reef surrounding the island has suffered from pollution.
