The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Terra satellite captured images of the floods in Namibia on March 23, 2009 and also shows the region before the wet-season rains started on January 14, 2009.

The aid alliance Action by Churches Together is active in southern Africa, and issues regular briefings.

The Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWSNET), funded by the U.S. government, gives regular updates, including information on rainy seasons in different regions of each country.

Volunteers from the national Red Cross societies are on the scene. They publish information about their work through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies (IFRC).
