Silver Spring, Maryland—For the fourth consecutive year, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) International has received a four-star rating by Charity Navigator, America's leading charity evaluator, for displaying sound financial practices and a high level of financial accountability and transparency, according to Ken Berger, president and CEO of the independent reviewer. This respected rating is granted to less than six percent of U.S. charities.
"ADRA consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America," said Berger. "This exceptional designation differentiates ADRA from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust."
This rating is determined on the basis of the most recent financial information available, and serves as a public recognition of ADRA's competence to effectively manage and grow its finances.
"We are very pleased to see that Charity Navigator continues to recognize our devotion to service, which is demonstrated in the way that we manage our finances, and the quality of the work that we do," said Gideon Mutero, vice president for Finance at ADRA International. "Our donors rely on us to be their hands in the field, and we take that responsibility very seriously, ensuring that the funds are used to advance our mission, so they can make a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of people every day."
Each year, Charity Navigator evaluates more than five thousand charitable organizations in the U.S., ten times more than any other charity evaluator. This independent rating system is designed to provide the public with the most accurate and reliable information regarding America's largest charities. Charity Navigator's rating of ADRA is accessible at www.charitynavigator.org.
In addition, for the fifth consecutive year, ADRA has met the exacting standards of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for charitable accountability, and features the BBB Wise Giving Alliance Seal on its fund-raising materials and Web site. ADRA also continues to place in the top 400 charities in the nation, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy, the leading news source for charities.
ADRA is a non-governmental organization present in 125 countries providing sustainable community development and disaster relief without regard to political or religious association, age, gender, race, or ethnicity.
