SILVER SPRING Md.--The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is mourning the death of Eyembe Magina, project manager for ADRA in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Magina died Tuesday, October 27. He was 41.

On Monday, October 26, Magina suffered a stroke while driving to the airport in northern Tanzania, leaving him unconscious. With the assistance of his wife and others who were present at the site of the incident, Magina was rushed to Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre located in the town of Moshi near Mt. Kilimanjaro, where he died at 6:45 a.m. the following day.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the wife, children, and family of Eyembe, as they go through this difficult time," said Romain Kenfack, country director for ADRA DRC East. "Eyembe was a vital component of our team and an essential member of our family. He will be sorely missed."

Magina worked with ADRA DRC East since 2006, managing a project in the Kamango area of the North Kivu Province that benefits Congolese refugees returning home after years of exile and displacement. Before that, Magina had been a part of the ADRA network for nearly 11 years, working in various country offices.

The funeral was held Friday, October 30, in his hometown of Musomo, in northern Tanzania.

Magina leaves behind his wife and four children.
