Aug 18 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1400 GMT on Tuesday.

* denotes new or updated items.

* EASTERN AFGHANISTAN - A roadside bomb killed two U.S. service members with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and wounded three in eastern Afghanistan, ISAF said in a statement.

* LOGAR - Taliban fighters fired rocket-propelled grenades at two schools to be used as polling stations for Thursday's elections in the Baraki Barak district of Logar province south of Kabul, said Deen Mohammad Darwish, a spokesman for the provincial governor.

* BADAKHSHAN - A roadside bomb killed four people, including three election commission employees, while they were transporting voting materials in the remote Argu district of northeastern Badakshan province, said local official Abdul Jabar.

* GHAZNI - Taliban insurgents blew up a school to be used as a polling centre in the Qara Bagh district of southeastern Ghazni province, a police official said. A roadside bomb wounded two policemen who were carrying election papers in the same district.

* KABUL - At least seven people were killed and more than 50 wounded by a suicide car bomb attack on a Western military convoy on a main road in the east of Kabul, security and medical officials said. Two Afghan United Nations were among the dead, a U.N. spokesman said. Foreign troops were among the dead and wounded, the International Security Assistance Force said.

URUZGAN - A suicide bomber attacked an army checkpoint in southern Uruzgan province, killing three soldiers and two civilians, the provincial police chief said.

KABUL - Two rockets were fired at the capital Kabul overnight, police said. One hit the presidential palace compound, causing some damage, and the second hit the police headquarters. Neither caused any casualties. A Taliban spokesman said they fired four rockets at the capital.

* NANGARHAR - Ten people were wounded when a rocket hit a house in the eastern provincial capital, Jalalabad, provincial governor spokesman Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said.

JOWZJAN - Gunmen shot dead a provincial council candidate in the Murdian district of northern Jowzjan province on Monday evening, district governor Abdullah Radmanish said.

HERAT - Eight insurgents were killed when police stormed the house of a district-level Taliban commander in the Guzara district of western Herat province on Monday, provincial police chief Esmatulah Alizai said.

KUNDUZ - Three insurgents were killed and two wounded in a clash with police in northern Kunduz province's Chardara district overnight, a police official said.
